Small business owners that don't want to spend a lot of money on office space now have affordable options in Brampton's downtown core.

Brampton Business Executive Suites, a stylish office complex, is opening next month with 19 fully furnished suites for rent.

Located in the Kapil Building at 10 George St. in the financial district of Brampton's downtown, the site is just walking distance away from the GO Train, VIA Rail, Brampton transit, City Hall and the new theatre, boasts Dave Kapil, president of Brampton Business Executive Suites.

"There is (a service) for small business owners like this in Mississauga and Toronto, but I was surprised there wasn't anything in Brampton," said Kapil, who has owned the George Street building for three years.

After a restaurant closed leaving a section of his building empty in March, Kapil decided it would be the perfect opportunity to redevelop the space for office use.

The facility provides services available in a large corporate setting like boardrooms, reception area, and top of the line furniture.

"Basically a small business owner only has to bring in a computer, sit down, and can start working immediately," said Kapil.

The building also has the capability of providing virtual office services for business owners who still want to work out of their home and don't need full-time office space.

They can come in and use the boardrooms for meetings and it gives owners the "convenience and prestige" of having a professional business address, he said.

Under the virtual office plan, small businesses can choose from two types of monthly charges: $100 includes use of the business address, incoming courier and mail handling, and the fax number, or $250 a month, that gives owners a professionally answered telephone service in their company's name during business hours, use of the business address and mail service, boardroom services and office space use for five hours each month.

"We have had quite a bit of interest so far even though we don't officially open until Sept. 1," said Kapil.

Over the last three years, he said small business owners have called asking if his building can accommodate smaller businesses.

Brampton Business Executive Suites is now filing that void by offering office space ranging in size from 100 sq.ft to 185 sq.ft.

Kapil said it's an ideal setting for lawyers, accountants, financial planners, counselors, architects, engineers and physiologists.

"Brampton's downtown core is changing, it's changing for the better," he said.

With more residential structures scheduled to be built and the new theatre that will open in the next few years, Kapil said the city has made leaps and bounds to improve the heart of the city.

He hopes his new executive suites draw more businesses into the city and adds to Brampton's rapidly growing economic sector.
